vulnerable children's foundation logo

The Vulnerable Children’s Fund in Zambia initiated a lunch program three days a week between July to November. The study will evaluate the effect of the lunch program on physical, social, and spiritual health among the children and teachers.

Project Background

The Vulnerable Children’s Foundation supports two community schools for vulnerable children in Lusaka, Zambia administered in partnership with the Lutheran Church of Central Africa. Following COVID, the need for an enhanced school-based feeding program was identified and a pilot project will be conducted for three months to test different strategies that improve the health and well-being of the children at both schools. This study will help identify core components of a feeding program and evaluate the impacts on child health and development over the course of the pilot project. The study could lead into follow-up research after the pilot project ends. The evaluation will include physical, social, and spiritual impacts on the children and teachers.
